Greece-specialist Attika Reisen migrates to OTDS

München/Würselen/Berlin – Since mid-May Attika Reisen, a special interest tour operator for Greece, is providing its hotel-only offers to the Traveltainment distribution systems in the OTDS data standard exclusively. The portfolio currently contains almost 1000 hotels of the summer season 2016 and will shortly be extended to the packaged travel offers as well.

The advantages for the tour operator are numerous, as the Head of IT at Attika, Thomas Bartsch explains: thanks to the migration to the XML-based Open Travel Data Standard (OTDS) the production time for Attika’s data delivery has been reduced considerably. While the production of legacy INFX data took several days, the generation of OTDS-data is now completed within an hour. In addition prices for children were integrated into the rule-based standard, which was not possible before. Last but not least the data quality further improved with OTDS: The availability for hotel-only offers increased by approximately 5 precentage points to 96 percent; the chance of an unwelcome price correction during the search process is as low as one percent now.

„After extremely short production cycles Attika is now present in the Traveltainment systems with a definitely larger number and, thanks to the child prices, with more attractive hotel-only offers,“ Thomas Bartsch sums up the important step. The migration of the packaged travel portfolio will follow suite. Attika plans to deliver its OTDS-data to other OTDS-processing distribution systems as well with the objective to cease the production of legacy data formats in the medium-term.

Dr. Oliver Rengelshausen, CEO of Traveltainment and Chairman of the OTDS-association is twice happy about the Attika-OTDS: „For Traveltainment OTDS is the data format of choice. We are able to process the hotel-only data delivery from Attika in as little as 10 minutes. And from the perspective of the OTDS association the successful Attika project is a great proof, that OTDS and its supporting documentation allows a self-directed realisation on the tour operator side without any problems.“
