Phoenix Reisen switches to OTDS for package airtours

The Bonn-based cruise tour operator Phoenix Reisen opted for the Open Travel Data Standard OTDS for delivering its package airtours data to sales channels:  data deliveries of the hotel-only as well as for the package travel portfolio to the distribution system Traveltainment as of now are generated in the OTDS-module of Phoenix’ tour operator system WBS Blank.

Compared to the legacy format INFX used prior to OTDS, the daily production time for the approximately four million data records for package trips and for the more than five million hotel-only records has been reduced from 17 hours to as little as 30 minutes. As OTDS allows Traveltainment to process the data many times faster (in fact the processing of package data only takes 20 minutes), the offers are available in Bistro Portal and the Traveltainment IBEs very soon after their production, thus scoring with high actuality.

„In addition our beach holidays show a significantly improved data quality with regard to availabilities and correctly indicated prices within the distribution system. The fact that 96 percent of all package tours are available after the booking request will clearly have positive effects on the booking figures”, explains Phoenix Reisen CEO Benjamin Krumpen the decision to migrate to OTDS. As for the hotel-only offers the availability even reaches 98 percent, the rate of prices undergoing corrections during the booking process is as low as one percent. The possibility to transmit flight alternatives in the eyes of the tour operator Phoenix is yet another reason to switch to OTDS.
