Hotelplan Group contributes to the successful establishment of OTDS in Switzerland

Hotelplan Group joined OTDS e.V. on 1 July 2019 and will implement the data format of the same name in a variety of ways in the future:  OTDS will be used for the production as well as for the distribution of the travel offers of the entire Hotelplan Group.

The IT team of Hotelplan Group, headed by CIO Pablo Castillo, will enter OTDS production in order to broaden the company’s technological base. The leading tour operator in Switzerland, Hotelplan Suisse, as well as other subsidiaries of the Group, such as the Holiday Home Division with the two holiday home brokers Interhome and Interchalet or the start-up bedfinder, will now implement OTDS. For its dynamic tour operators, Hotelplan Group also plans to connect OTDS offer data from service providers to its systems, process it in-house and subsequently make it searchable and bookable.

“With OTDS, we are working with a modern and open data standard that allows us the greatest possible flexibility and efficiency in product design and distribution. As a member of the association we can contribute both our needs and those of the Swiss market for the further development of the format in cooperation with other industry leaders”, Pablo Castillo explains the strategic background for OTDS implementation and association membership. The OTDS offer data from Hotelplan Group will be distributed to all markets and distribution channels that can effectively process the standard.

The Chairman of the OTDS Association, Dr. Oliver Rengelshausen, considers OTDS now firmly established in Switzerland: “The fact that Hotelplan Group as the market leader is using OTDS and is also becoming a member of the association is a very strong signal for our open standard on an international level as well”.
