Axis Data establishes OTDS as a delivery format and joins the OTDS Association

As IT specialist of the MTS Globe Group, Axis Data provides sophisticated software solutions for the distribution of hotel beds and activities worldwide. The Open Travel Data Standard (OTDS) now complements Axis Data’s portfolio of delivery formats. Receiving hotel data in the well-established OTDS format boosts efficiency and quality in data processing and product design for many tour operators.

A first tour operator is currently switching to OTDS as format for receiving MTS hotel data. The volume of files is significantly reduced without losing valuable content – thanks to the rule-based format, the content is easy to process.

Axis Data presented a preview of its OTDS project at the OTDS Summit7 in Cologne last November. Now the company has also joined the OTDS association as a member: “As an IT specialist of a leading DMC, we are a pioneer in this industry segment in the OTDS Association,” says Christa Walther, Director of IT Strategy at Axis Data. “The format is very well suited to our business cases and by our membership we are happy to support its further expansion.” In the next phase of the project, Axis Data plans to implement transfer-services in the destinations in OTDS, followed by activities and excursions.

Axis Data uses the “Inspector” from travel tech company a-five for internal tests and quality monitoring of OTDS data deliveries. Its head of technology, Michael Aubermann, acts as Board member of the OTDS Association and adds: “It is an exciting signal for the industry that a large DMC is now also transmitting hotel data in OTDS. As an association, we are very pleased about this new member!”
