Egypt-Specialist ETI concludes migration to OTDS

The Frankfurt-based tour operator ETI Express Travel International successfully concludes the migration to the Open Travel Data Standard (OTDS). After finalizing the hotel-only data it took only little more than two months to also migrate the production of package travel to OTDS.

The lean data standard OTDS allows for ETI to deliver significantly more offers to the distribution systems than with the formerly used format INFX. The daily data deliveries to Traveltainment today contain 290 million data records for offers; before OTDS it totaled only 80 millions. Hence ETI’s chance to serve a customer’s search request with a matching offer significantly increases.

In spite of the increased volume the time needed for producing and processing the offer data decreased considerably: the production at WBS Blank has been cut down from 36 hours to only 50 minutes. The data processing at Traveltainment is completed after 90 minutes, then those up-to-date offers deliver attractive results for queries in Traveltainment Bistro Portal and in the Traveltainment Booking Engines.

„Frequent changes of prices during the search- and booking process now are a thing of the past”, the General Manager of ETI, Ulrike Runge, is convinced. „For package travel approximately 95% of all prices are correct and almost 90% of all trips are available. The optimum is nearly reached. Currently we experience a very positive effect of the increased data quality on the number of bookings.“

„With ETI Traveltainment successfully completed yet another OTDS-customer project“, remarks Dr. Oliver Rengelshausen, CEO of Traveltainment as well as Chairman of the OTDS association. „A migration to OTDS no longer is rocket science: both the service provider for data production such as WBS Blank and also the processing distribution systems implement OTDS-projects as standard tasks.“ In the first quarter of 2018 the distribution systems Traffics and Schmetterling will follow suite in changing to the ETI data delivery in OTDS.
