Schauinsland-Reisen turns the OTDS-switch

Duisburg/Würselen/Berlin – In addition to the hotel-only data now also the packaged trips of Schauinsland-Reisen are being delivered to the distribution system Traveltainment in the OTDS standard. As a result the data quality for the connected online and offline distribution channels has increased significantly.

The OTDS-travel data is generated within in a specific tool of WBS Blank Software GmbH directly out of the Blank inventory system, which Schauinsland-Reisen has been using for decades. For WBS Blank, Schauinsland-Reisen is the successful pilot customer for the OTDS production, that will now be implemented for numerous other customers of the Blank inventory system. For additional quality management the „OTDS-Inspector“ of solution provider a-five is employed.

Thorsten Hendricks, Deputy Head of IT and project director for OTDS at Schauinsland-Reisen, is very happy with the results that can be measured by an lower price correction rate as well as better availability quotas: „Particularly in prices we were able to increase the rate of correct prices significantly by 10 percent thanks to OTDS: Coming from approximately 80 percent correct prices on the basis of legacy data standards, we today provide as much as 90 percent of correctly calculated prices – in spite of our comprenhensive dynamic air- and hotel interface portfolio.“ The availabilities also reach very good quotas above 90 percent and are eligible to increase further thanks to continuous optimiziation measures.

For Schauinsland-Reisen production time for its travel data could be significantly reduced with OTDS – from previously eight to now as little as two hours. As also the processing of the OTDS data at Traveltainment can be completed faster than with legacy data formats, the highly actual prices of the tour operator are uploaded to the Traveltainment systems in the early morning hours. Dr. Oliver Rengelshausen, both Traveltainment-CEO and chairman of the OTDS association, sums up: „Turning the OTDS-switch at Schauinsland-Reisen for package travel is another important step towards the replacement of old and insufficient data standards. Everybody involved benefits: tour operator, distribution system, travel agency, and the customer.“

Soon the migration of the Datamix-production for dynamically packaged trips will follow. By then the complete portfolio of Schauinsland-Reisen will be available in the state-of-the-art data standard OTDS.
